Can You Be Seen as Valuable? Here’s How It Affects Your Business

September 22, 20263 min read

There’s a difference between knowing what you have is valuable and feeling as though other people perceive that about you.

You know you're good at what you do and you have years of experience.

You have the skills, the knowledge and the results to prove it.

And yet...

When it comes to putting yourself out there, something changes.

You hesitate before posting and question your pricing.

You make your offer smaller and you keep learning instead of selling.

You tell yourself you need to be more qualified, more experienced, more ready.

And you might think you have a confidence problem.

But what if it’s something else?

When Nobody Else Is Telling You Your Value

When you're employed, there’s usually an external authority telling you where you fit.

Your role and responsibilities are defined.

Someone decided what your position is worth.

But business is different.

You are the one that decides what you offer.

You decide what you charge and how you show up.

And now, there’s no one else giving you that stamp of approval.

That can bring up a much deeper question:

Do I believe other people will see me as valuable?

The Gap Between Knowing and Being Seen

You can know you're valuable and still struggle to believe other people will perceive you that way.

And that gap can show up everywhere.

You don't talk about your ideas as confidently as you could.

You keep your offers smaller.

You undercharge.

You avoid visibility.

You hesitate to sell.

You keep learning because you think you need one more qualification before you're ready.

Or you create more complexity in your business because staying busy feels easier than allowing yourself to be fully seen.

The business problem can look like strategy.

But, something much deeper is happening.

Where Does That Come From?

A lot of the beliefs we carry around being seen and valued begin long before we start a business.

As children, we learn from the responses we receive when we express ourselves.

What happens when you speak?

When you share an idea?

When you ask for something?

When you create something?

When the response doesn't feel positive, you can start making decisions about yourself.

What I have isn't enough.

People aren't interested in what I have to say.

It’s safer if I stay quiet.

To stay connected I mustn’t upset anyone.

And those decisions don't necessarily disappear when you grow up.

You take them with you.

Then you build a business that asks you to do the exact opposite.

To be visible.

To speak.

To sell.

To lead.

To share your ideas.

To let people see you.

Your Business Requires You to Be Seen

This is why another strategy isn't the answer.

You can have the offer.

The content.

The sales process.

The plan.

And still feel like something isn't moving.

Because if part of you doesn't believe you can be seen as valuable, putting yourself out there can feel incredibly uncomfortable.

Your business requires you to be more fully expressed as yourself.

And that means letting go of the old limitations around what you're allowed to do, create, charge for and be seen doing.

So Here's the Question

“Can I allow myself to be seen as valuable?”

Because when you stop trying to prove your value and start allowing yourself to be fully seen as valuable, everything changes.

You show up differently.

You speak differently.

You sell differently.

You build differently.

And you give your business permission to become bigger than what you previously believed was possible.
